Indoor activities

In addition to the 5 acres that the Centre occupies, we have 20 acres known as the Jyotibag Farm. We are cultivating organically medicinal herbs, vegetables and fruits such as berries, chikoos, mangoes, papayas and pomegranates. As this effort expands, Navjivan will be able to supply the majority of our own food and nature cure remedies. This Fertile environment is home to many exotic birds, vibrant flowers and lotus ponds. It also serves as a basis for patient treatment: Horticultural therapy is the latest proven trend in effectively treating disease.

At Navjivan, we wholly believe in the benefits of horticultural therapy.

Nakshatra Garden is established with the purpose of creating a green pocket in the heart of the centre, where our patient and guests could spend some time relaxing amidst the trees. This garden also provides valuable information about celestial bodies, zodiacs and medicinal plants through various sign-boards, which adds to the knowledge of the visitors.

The most important feature of the garden is the way trees have been planted in the park. The trees have been planted in straight lines in different sectors. Each sector represents a particular Zodiac sign. The angle of the sectors and their relative positioning is in accordance with the mythological belief of Hinduism and celestial data provided by the Indian Institute of Astrophysics. The tree planted in a particular sector for a particular Nakshatra is also according to the Hindu belief.

Centre organizes the periodic cultural programs and events as a get-together for our guest and patient at night.

Cultural programs include Dandiya Ras, Garba and many traditional programs.

Body and mind are inseparable. Disease has its roots deep in the mind. The mind influences all the cells of the body through the endocrine and nervous systems. Our subconscious mind is full of negativities, defilements and complexes. When these impurities come to the surface of our conscious mind, our whole living organism is immediately affected. The physiological functioning of the cells, tissues and organs is disturbed, resulting in an accumulation of waste products and toxins inside the body. This is one of the important geneses of the disease state.

Meditation is the most effective way to cleanse, balance, setup harmony & reaches up to the root cause and eradicates it. Meditation is the integral part of daily activity during your stay at the centre.

Outdoor activities

Walking stretches your mind and your soul. It is dynamic mind & body process which creates a sense of rhythm. As you listen to your own silent rhythm, the pulse of life, your own heartbeat – you become whole, a complete man – fit in Mind, Body and Soul.

Sustained walking sessions for a minimum period of thirty to sixty minutes a day, five days a week, with the correct walking posture, reduces health risks and has various overall health benefits.

At the Centre your daily activity starts with the morning walk in the lush green farms. With the fresh air to breathe this gives you great amount of energy especially to your joints. The movement in your legs releases good cholesterol in your blood, opening up some of the “chakras” or channels of energy. By constantly moving your joints, you increase your blood circulation in a way that can only be completed with your daily nature walk at the centre.

This is an important holy place for the Jains which is almost 15 kms from the centre and 51 kms away from Bhuj. It has 72 Deris of Lord Mahavir. People always come to see this beautiful and attractive place. Bounter Jinalaya is also known as Adiswar Bounter Jinalaya Mahatirth. It is situated on the Mundra-Mandvi Road about 9 kms away from the central town of Mandvi. It is spread out in almost 80 acre areas. It is built in the memory of Gun Sagar Suriswarji Maharaj. The construction of this Jinalaya began in 1982 as is built in an octagonal shape. This Jinalaya will be proven as a Milestone for our future generation.

25 kms north of Khavda, the top of the Black Hills is the highest point in Kutch, at 462 m. From here, the entire northern horizon vanishes into the Great Rann, the desert and sky often becoming indistinguishable. It is one of the few non-coastal locations where you feel like you are at the edge of the earth, on the brink of incomprehensible vastness that fades off towards infinity. Looking out from the Black Hills, you can understand the tremendous effort that those who undertake the crossing of the Great Rann have to make.

Since this is one of the places where a civilian can get closest to the Pakistan border, there is an Army post at the top; beyond here, only military personnel are allowed. The hill is also the site of a 400-year-old temple to Dattatreya, the three-headed incarnation of Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva in the same body. Legend says that when Dattatreya walked on the earth, he stopped at the Black Hills and found a band of starving jackals. Being a god, he offered them his body to eat and as they ate, his body continually regenerated itself. Because of this, for the last four centuries, the priest at the temple has prepared a batch of prasad that is fed to the jackals after the evening aarti.

Built in 1929 by Rao Vijayrajji, this palace is very well-maintained, and often the scene of filming for Bollywood productions. It was built of red sandstone in the Rajput style, with a main central dome, Bengal domes at the sides, bastions at the corner, and colored glass windows. The balcony at the top affords a superb view of the surrounding area, and the king’s tomb can also be seen. The palace is 7 km from the center of town, open every day from 9am-1pm and 3pm-6pm. Entry is Rs.20/-, photography costs Rs.50/-, and entering with a private vehicle is Rs.10/-.

The Maharao’s private beach, behind Vijay Vilas Palace, is 8 km from town, and requires a small fee (the other beaches are free and open to the public). More secluded than the others, the Vijay Vilas Beach has nice white sand, lovely places to swim and accommodation available in air-conditioned tents along the shore.

The first thing most people think of when they visit Mandvi is visiting the seashore. Mandvi Beach is the closest to the town center, across the bridge to the east side of the river, then down the road past a place called Salaya, accessed from just near the Kashi-Vishvanath Temple (sometimes the beach is called Kashi-Vishvanath Beach.) Wind Farm Beach is 7 km west of town, named for the windmills that line it to generate electricity for the area. You can get fresh coconuts and other snacks, swim in very pleasant water, and enjoy a nice view of the coastline.
